ARC Signups and Information

If you’re interested in signing up for an ARC of MASKS AND MISHAPS by Rebecca Kinkade, you’re in the right place. This cat is here to make the most unimpressed face in the world at you...but you can definitely impress him by signing up for my ARC:

For the record, I don't know this cat, but I firmly believe this cat is unimpressed with me because Masks and Mishaps is my very last spicy camgirl romcom! Now, would I go out of my way just to try to impress a cat? Absolutely. I once bought an eleven dollar tin of smoked mussels so my cats would think I have exquisite taste in cuisine. Did it work? No. They ignored me. You cannot impress a cat. Hence, this will in fact be my last Streams and Schemes novel.

If you ARC-read for me before, you know the details on me, but for anyone new: I'm an indie romance author who has published eleven books since 2020. If you've never heard of me, it's probably because I never marketed any of my books prior to Streams and Schemes, my first spicy romcom, which I released at the end of March 2024. The second book in the series, Tips and Trysts, came out in October 2024, and I'm closing out the series with Masks and Mishaps.

It's equal parts romcom, workplace romance, and messy AF, and has no cheating or miscommunications. HEA guaranteed! Tips and Trysts is the third book in the Streams and Schemes series, but can be read as a standalone.

Masks and Mishaps Blurb

Essie Romero made a plan: graduate debt free and land a cutthroat banking job. Masked and anonymous, this coed by day and camgirl by night almost has it all. Unfortunately for Essie, she never saw Dalton Cavendish coming (which is surprising, honestly, because this six-foot-five snack of a man is impossible to miss).

Dalton has no plans. Dalton is a hot mess—emphasis on hot—but a mess, nevertheless. This charismatic finance bro’s “work hard, play hard” lifestyle breeds chaos—chaos Essie can’t avoid now that her good friend Dalton is going to be her sort-of stepbrother…and coworker at DC’s top investment bank.

Luckily, nobody can handle chaos like Essie…until an evening of margaritas, mistaken identities, and mishaps leads to Essie and Dalton hooking up and accidentally livestreaming it. It’s a nightmare—until the tips pour in, and Essie convinces Dalton to join her streams as a mysterious, masked camboy.

Working on finance by day and filming at night—and with their parents’ wedding less than a month away—Essie and Dalton both have to stick to the plan: camming is strictly business. But when their bank faces collapse, Dalton and Essie are pulled into the deal of a lifetime and all plans go out the window…

…except for one: Dalton’s not-so-secret plan to finally make the camgirl of his dreams love him back.

Content Warnings

Masks and Mishaps is, intentionally, a very spicy book. There’s a lot of sex. Detailed sex. What follows is an alphabetized list of all spicy content. After that, I’ve included an alphabetized list of potential triggers.

Light spoilers follow: Spicy stuff: anal sex, breast slapping, choking, cuckolding, cum play, cunnilingus, daddy kink, dirty talk, double penetration with toys, exhibitionism, fellatio, filming/camming, fingering (anal and vaginal), fisting, kissing, masked sex, masturbation, rim jobs, spitting, squirting, titty sex, toys, and vaginal sex. Potential triggers: alcohol, classism, death of a mother (off page, cancer), extortion, family estrangement, narcissistic fathers, finance bros, profanity, racism, use of pejorative terms for sex workers, and sexism.

Boring-ass Logistics Stuff

Most ARCs will be e-books sent via BookFunnel on May 2, 2025. A small number of readers will receive a paperback ARC. Maybe. All selected readers will be notified by April 18, 2025.

Questions nobody has ever asked, but I'm answering anyway

Do I have to read Streams and Schemes and Tips and Trysts before I read Masks and MishapsNope. You can read Masks and Mishaps as a standalone, but Streams and Schemes and Tips and Trysts are a good gauge of how you'll respond to Masks and Mishaps. If you don't enjoy the humor, level of spice, writing, and pacing, you probably won't enjoy Masks and Mishaps. It's also worth noting that reading Masks and Mishaps will spoil Streams and Schemes and Tips and Trysts.

I'm just starting out and I don't have a lot of followers. Will that impact my likelihood of being selected? Nope! I strongly encourage smaller/growing reviewers to sign up. I am intentionally going to select ARC readers who are growing their platforms and like to engage closely with authors. I have no minimum follower requirements.

Will everyone get an ARC? No, unfortunately. If you don't provide me with functioning links, you will not be selected. I also had a lot of interest in the Streams and Schemes and Tips and Trysts ARCs last year, and I suspect I'm going to end up with more interest for Masks and Mishaps, which means I can't sent a book to everyone. I don't have a PA and I hand-pick my readers, so if you're really excited, connect with me! I'm super approachable and welcome it.

Are you sending PR? Yep. The majority of the PR mailers will go to my permanent ARC team, but a few new readers will receive PR mailers. The earlier you sign up and the more you engage with me leading up to the ARC send date, the more likely you are to receive one. Follower counts have no impact.

Do you have a street team? Nope. I do have a permanent ARC team, and while I'm not currently accepting new members, I will likely open the team up for applications again later this year.

The ARCs aren't going out until May 2! Why are sign ups so early, and what if I forget I signed up? Because I'm an asshole. Kidding! It's actually because I'm an asshole who likes to edge you... Still kidding! I'm an indie author with a small platform, so I can't realistically get a solid number of signups on short notice. I have to keep the form open for a while to give more readers a chance to find me. Don't worry! If you follow me on IG, Threads, or FB, I won't let you forget you signed up. You will also receive acceptance and reminder emails.

The Form

Oh dear. The signup closed on Friday, April 11. Unfortunately, you will not be able to ARC read Masks and Mishaps. However, you can sign up to get ARC notifications from me here:
